7pm • Tin Mountain Conservation, Nature Learning Center- If you want to learn about the biggest trees in NH and nearby states then you won’ want to miss this exciting program. Wooden boat builder, outdoorsman and Big Tree Program measurer, Kevin Martin, will be showing and discussing these trees as described in his new book Big Trees of Northern New England. You will hear how he got involved with finding the trees, how lumber from similar trees is used in his boat building work, and how wildlife use these impressive parts of our landscape.

Explore Pinkham Notch with a Tin Mountain naturalist and learn about the diverse ecology of the region. Program topics change weekly and range from learning about the flora and fauna of the forest and fresh water ecosystems to those of the higher alpine environment, including wildflowers, mosses, waterfalls, frogs, and moose to the geology of the surrounding mountains and Presidential Range. Community Event: ECOFORUM – Aerial Insectivores: The Who, What, Where, and Why of an Emerging Conservation Issue

Aerial insectivores are birds that feed on insects captured in flight, and include nightjars, swifts, flycatchers, and swallows. Dr. Pamela Hunt, NH Audubon, will provide an overview of these species’ biology and population trends. Location: Meet at the Silver Lake Boat Launch on East Shore Road in Silver Lake, NH. Tin Mountain Conservation Center is teaming up with Fish Nerds Guide Service to offer 90-minute boat cruises. Price: $25/person, $15/child 16 and under. $5 discount for TMCC members. Due to the limited space on the cruises, reservations are required.
