Rawle dives deep into the dark, sad, greedy world of Scrooge and discovers a man in dire need of a second chance. Along with Scrooge, we meet the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future and in the process learn about living with and for others in a world blessed by Jesus. Rediscover and reinvigorate your faith this Advent and Christmas season and look at this familiar classic through the lens of faith.

    • The Tin Mountain Energy Team is working with the non-profit Window Dressers to build simple, tight, pine frame insulation frames for leaky windows to cut down heat loss in winter. 
    • We are looking for volunteers to help construct frames as well as help wrap and finish them at our community build in North Conway October 16-20. V
    • olunteers will be trained and do not need a specific skill set, although a familiarity with a power drill is helpful for frame construction. Tasks may include staple guns and blow dryers.

    The Dundee Road history walk is back by popular demand. Board members Peter Benson and Anne Pillion will lead a walking tour of the Dundee Community Forest project area, which encompasses fields and forests that were once a thriving farming community. Explore its history, and forces both economic and environmental that brought transitions to the landscape. We’ll walk along Dundee Road from the location of the former Dame House to the Ham House with a little exploring in the woods, too, to find old cellar holes and stone walls.     The use of the outdoors as a therapeutic catalyst for change is as old as time itself. In the modern era, it has been referred to as wilderness therapy, outdoor therapy, adventure therapy, and ecotherapy, and has been growing all over the country and the world for the last 25 years.  This two-hour experience will teach participants ways to use the outdoors to accelerate the therapeutic benefit – whether a multi-day solo adventure or a twenty-minute walk in the woods  – as well as a brief history of the field. The talk and walk will be facilitated by Jackson local Will White, and will take place in the Dundee Community Forest project area in Jackson.

    9:30am • Zoom link required. (link required – email jcchurch@jacksoncommunitychurch.org for the necessary info). Ecumenical study series begins this week. Sue Davidson from the Conway United Methodist Church leads this group and she has a few copies of the book available for purchase ($9).
    • Listen by Rueben P. Job is a 40-day experience created to offer help to those new to prayer, those with a daily prayer routine, and those whose lives seem too busy to pray. With a focus on listening prayer and prayer as a two-way conversation, the experience will assist individuals and groups in building and deepening a personal prayer practice and spiritual discernment.
  • Community Event: CHAIR YOGA

    Free 6-week series/online class sponsored by the Friends of the Whitney Center. Exercise is a key component of a happy, healthy life at any age. If you are looking to create a stronger back or core, needing to stretch from head to toe, well grab a chair and a yoga strap and prepare to explore body strength, mobility and flexibility as this class/series will support you in healthy habits. Includes exercises for strengthening, mobility and flexibility to bring health to the whole body from head to toe. Anjali Rose will guide you virtually in your own home. Dress comfortably, bring a water bottle, chair and yoga strap and commit to a healthier you. Upon registration, any other specifics will be sent to you.

Reminder about the church’s charitable partners.

INTERNATIONAL CAUSES
which our faith community supports through giving or volunteering:

  • Heifer International cards are available inside the church’s front entrance. You may take a card and make a donation (cash or check). Drop it in the wonderful church model made by Sandy Louis’ dad, which we’re using to collect these funds. Learn moreabout Heifer International.
  • Zimbabwe cards are available in the front of the church. These support partner faith communities and communal projects through the NH-Zimbabwe Ukama Partnership, including sister churches like JCC’s partner: Chikanga Church, City of Mutare, Zimbabwe. You can leave donations in the model church inside the front doors, or make an online donation: https://jacksoncommunitychurch.org/. Representatives from regions — including our churches — have traveled back and forth to establish strong ties between the partner faith communities.
  • Honduras Hope is a NH-based partnership with communities in Honduras. Church member Meg Phillips has traveled there several times to provide direct volunteer service in the communities and can answer your questions! Link to site for giving: https://www.hondurashope.org/donate

  • Jackson XC Ski Touring Foundation: This foundation maintains trails for XC skiing in Jackson, offers classes, provides affordable youth education and access for snow shoeing and XC skiing, and works with local nonprofits and landowners on conservation initiatives.
