  • The Northern Saw-whet Owl is the smallest (and some would say cutest) owl species in eastern North America. A New Hampshire resident, this elusive species often avoids detection due to its small size, nocturnal habits and preference for the densest forests. Unusual among North American owls, saw-whet owls migrate south in the fall, allowing researchers an opportunity to study them. In this presentation, Kathy Seymour will share her observations and photos from 15 years of saw-whet owl research for Mass Audubon. You will also learn about the unique adaptations that make the saw-whet successful as a bird of prey while also being prey to larger owl species.
