- Scripture: John 15:1–2 – “I am the true vine, and My Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch in Me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit He prunes so that it will be even more fruitful.”
- Reflection: In some cases, intentional pruning — cutting back to the core — promotes healthier growth closer to the heart of the plant or the person. Pruning is essential for flourishing, by eliminating output of extra energy required to less productive, vital areas of growth and being. By pruning, metaphorically, we are removing what no longer serves us so that new life can thrive.
Just as a gardener trims plants, we are called to let go of harmful habits or attitudes. Embrace the process of pruning for a more fruitful life. You may simply need to find a different balance, rather than eliminating something or someone entirely. Use good boundaries. Prioritize. Find balance. - Spiritual Practice Prompt: Reflect on what ‘branches’ in your life need pruning. Pray for strength to let go of what hinders your wellbeing. Choose one step you may take to restore a centered way of living that brings you closer to your heart, your values, and your sense of purpose.
