- Scripture: Mark 4:8 – “Still other seed fell on good soil, it came up, grew, and produced a crop—some multiplying thirty, some sixty, some a hundred times what was sown.”
- Reflection: Like fertile ground, our minds and hearts must be prepared, in order to be receptive to growth. We give them rest and respite, we feed them with enough sleep, exercise, good nutrition, stimulating input, health relationships, spiritual practices, connection to community, sense of purpose, and other factors. The question becomes, as the parable above asks, what kind of soil are we cultivating right now?
To push the analogy, the depth, richness of nutrients, and earth’s quality all determine the bounty that emerges. Of course, some factors are beyond our influence: drought, famine, lack of nutrition, water, sunlight or other essential ingredients or misuse and abuse of the landscape of the heart and mind.
What do you need to do for yourself, to be ready for learning and growth and change? - Spiritual Practice Prompt: What positive habits help you? Choose one, and create time for this practice. Or are those habits already in balance, in which case, do you need to add something else positive to be prepared for transformation and growth?

The soil, if it is to bring forth seed, must have patience and nourish the seed; in the same way, the human soul must wait and nurture the divine seed. ― Meister Eckhart
