SPRING
Tuesday, April 29
- Scripture: Job 12:7-10 – “But ask the animals, and they will teach you…”
- Reflection: We are not the only beings Godself created. All living things, flora and fauna, came from the imagination of Godself. In fact, humans were the very last of all plants and creatures God originated, according to Genesis 1.
Science can tell us other aspects of this story. Please remember that the Bible isn’t a science or history textbook: its passages have different intentions. Don’t get hung up on fact-checking the Bible and comparing it to contemporary chemistry, physics, mathematics or other disciplines.
Either way, we share this world with other creatures. At this time of year, all sorts of creatures are making themselves known. Plants are emerging, too.
Which ones do you notice? Can you observe how determined fledgling life can be? Sometimes annoyingly so, if they overlap with our habitats! Animals prepare to mate. Offspring come into the world. New growth, of all kinds, persists.
By observing animals, plants, and landscapes, we can learn valuable lessons about resilience and perseverance. - Spiritual Practice Prompt: Learn more about an animal or plant this week that fascinates you and reflect on its unique adaptations.
