April 16th Devotional for Holy Week

HOLY WEEK DEVOTIONALS

April 16 (Wednesday – Reflection)

  • Scripture: Psalm 27:14 – Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.
  • Reflection: So much busy-ness and rushing from Palm Procession to Easter Joy. Yet we must go through the hard part, to reach the relief and celebration of Easter.
Midweek of Holy Week can serve as a pause for reflection and anticipation. It encourages us to consider what waiting on the Lord means in our lives. Instead of rushing ahead, we are invited to trust and remain patient. This waiting is not in vain; it is preparation for the profound truths to unfold as we approach Easter.
What might this year’s Easter reveal to you? What does resurrection mean in your life, what shape could it take? And what does the journey toward such insight bring to you and require of you?
  • Spiritual Practice Prompt: Spend time in silence today. Allow thoughts of worry or impatience to dissipate. Offer them in prayer. Or walk outside in the spring world and let them fall away. Open yourself to what comes next.

Songs:

Patience is not simply the ability to wait – it’s how we behave while we’re waiting. — Joyce Meyer
