Day 29 — Peace as Thanks

  • Scripture: John 14:27 — Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you… Do not let your hearts be troubled.
  • Reflection: “True peace is not merely the absence of tension; but the presence of justice,” was a statement made by Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Other philosophers remind us that peace begins within us, then translates outward into our relationships, and further out to our communities, and ultimately to larger social networks.
Gratitude grounds us with perspective. The scripture above reminds us that we do not seek peace alone. And that we can reach for inner peace, and find balance, even in times of turmoil.  We can offer this calm and tranquility to the larger world, by being present in our interactions.
  • Practice: Take five slow breaths. With each inhale meditate on, “Peace.” With each exhale focus on, “Here, now.”

Song:

“Peace is not something you wish for; it’s something you make.” — John Lennon
