HOLY WEEK DEVOTIONALS
April 14 (Monday – Reflection)
- Scripture: Isaiah 53:3 – He was despised and rejected by mankind, a man of suffering, and familiar with pain.
- Reflection: Whatever we experience, whatever we are feeling, God has gone there before us. That’s the point of an incarnate, embodied, human God.
The journey to the cross was paved with pain, rejection, and sorrow. As we reflect on the suffering servant, we are reminded of the depth of God’s love for us. In our own times of pain and hardship, we are reminded that Jesus has known similar burdens. And God walks with us through all of it. Revelation says that God comes close enough to brush away the tears from our cheeks.
Let this week be a time for acknowledging our struggles while leaning on the strength that comes from such Love that dares to enter into the messy, mortal world of humanity, know it from the inside out, and continue to love us anyway. - Spiritual Practice Prompt: Write down one burden you are carrying and offer it up in prayer, asking for peace and healing.
