DAILY DEVOTIONALS for JULY

Friday, July 25

  • Scripture: Revelation 21:4 “He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”
  • Reflection: In addition to the ways we find peace in daily life, our faith promises comfort and peace beyond this life. The scripture above relates a promise of complete restoration in the time beyond this human life. We are invited to find solace and comfort and tranquility in this promise of a future where sorrow and pain are no more. Holding onto this hope allows us to find rest even amid current struggles, trusting that God’s ultimate vision for the world will bring unity, renewal, connection, belonging, healing, and peace.
  • Spiritual Practice Prompt: Imagine God’s thumb or finger touching your cheek, and brushing away your tear(s). Place your fingertip to your face, and take inventory of the sensory messages you receive: the warmth of touch, the softness of skin, the sound of breath or presence close at hand, the fragrance of another’s proximity, the taste of air crossing your lips and tongue. How do you feel when you visualize this encounter as if it’s God’s touch? Does it feel real? How would it be different?
