DAILY DEVOTIONALS for JULY

Thursday, July 24

  • Scripture: John 16:33 – “In this world, you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
  • Reflection: Difficulties are inevitable. God doesn’t promise that we will be able to avoid all challenges and problems, or that we will experience a life without suffering. Rather, God promises to be present with us in all things. It is actually through this promise that Jesus offers hope and peace in the midst of hardship. Whatever we’re experiencing, Christ has also lived through it and knows our cares and worries and human experiences from the inside out. Connection to God’s love, and cultivating deep trust that God’s holy presence abides with us in the midst of life’s ups and downs, gives us a focal point upon which to orient ourselves.
  • Spiritual Practice Prompt: Write down a current challenge. Name it in prayer. Ask for peace around it.

Song:

Faith is taking the first step even when you don’t see the whole staircase. — Martin Luther King Jr.
