DAILY DEVOTIONALS for JULY

Tuesday, July 22

  • Scripture: Isaiah 26:3 – “You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast because they trust in you.”
  • Reflection: Relying on the spiritual disciplines and body-mind-spirit practices that we develop, then creates access to consistency of wellbeing. By using those metaphorical muscles, which are strengthened through regular habits of use, we can more easily activate those routines when we need them the most.
The old saying to keep our minds ‘fixed on God’ becomes an instruction to focus on the deep values and beliefs that ground us. Such faith becomes an way to remain centered, even in turbulent times
How well developed is your spiritual self-care practice? Do you have daily or at least consistent habits of giving time to connecting with Godself? How do you do so? Music? Prayer? Study? Reading? Writing? Communing with nature? Contemplative practices? Creative arts?
  • Spiritual Practice Prompt: Choose one focal word from this passage such as  “peace,” “trust,” “steadfast”, “keep” and repeat it as a mantra throughout the day to center your thoughts on God’s presence. If you need a reminder, focus on it whenever you hear a bell ring, or choose another audio prompt that you hear often as a reminder to call up the focal word and bring it to the front and center of your mind.
