- Community Event: MWV BARN DANCE
5:30 (families) / 7pm (adults) • Whitney Community Center
- Begins with a special family-friendly session from 5:30–6:30 pm featuring kid- and beginner-friendly dances designed to help everyone feel comfortable on the dance floor. Whether you’re a seasoned dancer or have never stepped into a barn dance before, you’ll quickly discover that the focus is on having fun rather than getting every step perfect.
- After a social break with refreshments and conversation, the full Mount Washington Valley Barn Dance gets underway from 7-9:30 pm.
- Lively mix of contras, squares, couples’ dances, and the ever-popular Virginia Reel, all accompanied by traditional live dance music.
- No experience is necessary because every dance is taught before it begins.
- The dances are coordinated and called by Jennifer McHone Villabos, whose clear instruction and infectious enthusiasm make the evening enjoyable for dancers of all abilities. She is joined by nationally renowned and local musicians performing live dance tunes that keep the energy high throughout the evening.
- Bring snacks to share during the social break, adding to the evening’s community spirit.
- The final dance scheduled for July 31st at the Whitney Community Center.
- No one will be denied access due to financial circumstances. Suggested donations range from $5 to $20 and help cover the costs of the musicians and dance caller.

2nd Annual Friends Fiber Swap: Saturday, July 18 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Look at your fiber craft stash and come trade your no longer used treasures for something you now enjoy. - Community Science: ANNUAL BUTTERFLY COUNT

We have two different options:- Option 1: Beginners – shorter, easier, more instructive
9:45am-11:30am Counting will take place at Tin Mt property on Bald Hill Rd, Albany NH. A full day over sometimes tricky, brushy terrain. 9 am – 4 pm Meet at Tin Mt Center on Bald Hill Rd, divide in teams and depart to survey various locations in our 15 mile diameter circle. Note: If you are an experienced “butterflier” but cannot participate the entire day, please still sign up for this option and you can depart early. - All are welcome -4 pm – Tally party. Return to Tin Mt Nature Learning Center to tally all groups’ data and enjoy ice cream! More details: This annual count is one of eight such one-day, July counts in the state. Wildlife biologists and conservation scientists use data from these state counts as they are essential for understanding the dynamics of butterfly geography and population trends. We submit our data to NABA (the North American Butterfly Association).
