  • TUNE UP FITNESS with Laurie McAleer 
    9am • Parish House, Jackson Community Church. Free. Men and women join fitness trainer Laurie McAleer for a gentle, introductory fitness class for beginners. Wear comfortable clothing, sensible shoes, and bring a bottle of water. Also bring a ski pole and a small ball and hand weights.
  • Community Event: DRUM PERFORMANCE with JEFFEREY CLAYTON
    5:30pm • Jackson Public Library
    Free to public, $5 donation welcome. Demo of Caribbean Steelpan Drumming with Jefferey Clayton: Reggae, Soca, Calypso, African-Caribbean, Jazz, Contemporary, Jazz, and Classical music styles on the versatile Steelpan Drum. Jefferey has shared the stage with Stephen Marley, Wayne Wonder, Max Roach, The Duke Ellington Band and Chris Vadala.  He has performed for the President and Vice President of the United States.  Jeffrey is a retired Army Band Musician with 21 years of service.

    2pm • Shannon Door. Fundraising in response to Josh Preece’s mountain bike accident in June, which resulted in spinal injuries (etc) now being treated at Dartmouth Hitchcock. ‘FOLK-JAZZ’ HOME CONCERT

From the northeast corner of rural Texas, award winning songwriters Lynn Adler and Lindy Hearne will perform at a private home in Jackson. Tickets are $35 and may be purchased on line: mountaintopmusic.org or by calling Mountain Top: 603-447-4737.  Directions to the lovely home on the banks of the Wildcat River in Jackson will be provided as part of the ticketing process.  Seating is limited to 50 guests for this intimate concert.

This talented husband and wife duo, self-proclaimed ‘organic song farmers’ are touring in New England, serving up seasoned original songs mixed with fresh harvests of homegrown music in a soulful genre they define simply as “folk jazz”.  Take a peek at their website: adlerandhearne.com, read their bios and listen to their beautifully blended voices.

The performance benefits our local non-profit community music school, Mountain Top Music Center and is open to the public.  Join us for a special evening of entertainment, refreshments and an opportunity to meet the talented musicians after their performance.

PAN MASS CHALLENGE/PMC BIKE RIDE
Sun, Aug 5 • Starts in Wellesley, MA

Chris Doktor and Sarah Doktor will participate for the 9th year as a father-daughter team in the Pan Mass Challenge/PMC on helaf of the family’s foundation Bright Happy Power as part of the Team Kermit. Support their ride to raise funds and awareness to research and treat childhood cancer.
