    More info: https://www.bartlettpubliclibrary.org/this-land-of-snow-by-anders-morley-author-event-tuesday-february-8th-700/ For as long as he could remember, Morley dreamed of taking a very long walk.  Just as the snow was starting to fall in 2011 he set off alone to spend the four coldest months of the year traveling on skis across the half-wild country of northwestern Canada.  This Land of Snow tells the story of that journey and of a man who must come to terms with the consequences of living by nostalgia.  It is an honest, thoughtful, and sometimes humorous reckoning of an adventure filled with adrenaline and exuberance, as well as mistakes and danger.

        Ski further with less effort and more smiles! You may even start looking for more hills and corners because they are fun when you have the skills. (Four 1 hour sessions)

        Make XC skiing a more strategic part of your fitness program. Includes intervals, terrain strategy and technique work as it relates to skiing faster. (Four 1.5 hour sessions)

        If you already skate, this program will take you to the next level. (Four 1.5 hour sessions)

    Hear music from the 18th to the 21st centuries, by composers familiar — and less familiar. Musicians: Chris Nourse, Dr. Julia E. Howell, Kate Vachon. First Friday concerts are free, but contributions are always gratefully accepted. Proof of vaccination or a negative test are required for admission, and masks are strongly recommended. Includes duos and trios by JS Bach, Joseph Haydn and Paul Hindemith, as well as pieces by Christian Cannabich, a German classical composer, and Martin Grayson, a contemporary Englishman.

  • Community Event: WINTER TREE ID Field Program
    10am-Noon • Tin Mountain Conservation Center
    Winter presents a big challenge in tree identification – the diagnostic leaves have been shed leaving you with nothing more than bark and branches. Tin Mountain Conservation Center is offering a 2-hour field program on how to identify trees in winter, both deciduous and conifer.
    Naturalist Dave Govatski will take participants through the unique characteristics and identifiers of the region’s trees, including twig characteristics, branch arrangement, and bark, this program is appropriate for all levels. Dress warm and bring a snack. Registration fee: $15/person or $25/household; members free. Call 603-447-6991 or click here to register.
