    • CHILD LOSS GRIEF GROUP:. Specifically for households who have experienced the death a child of any age. Currently we’re using the 1pm, Wednesday time slot. We are considering an evening time slot in addition to the afternoon meeting times, and will update you about availability of the facility. Next meeting: April 3 @ 1pm
    • SPOUSE/PARTNER abd ADULT RELATIONSHIP LOSS GRIEF GROUP also meets once per month. Specifically for households who have experienced the death of a spouse, partner, adult sibling or parent or other adult relationship. Next meeting: April 10 @ 1pm
    • Both groups are free, and open to the community. Rev. Gail Doktor, trained as a hospice chaplain, will facilitate. Pass along this info to anyone whom you know, who might need such a support network.

    • Small mammal (rodent and shrew) populations throughout the White Mountains undergo significant changes in abundance from year to year. However, the factors that influence these population changes are not well understood. Josh Willems, PhD candidate at UNH, has been focusing his research on teasing out the effects of beech mast, forest structure, and climate on small mammal populations utilizing a 30-year dataset from the Bartlett Experimental Forest. Join us to learn more about his findings and what this tells us about the area’s small mammal population.

    • Winter means cold, ice, snow, and shorter days. How do New Hampshire animals survive these conditions? Join a naturalist from Squam Lakes Natural Science Center, along with two live animals up close to find out about various successful adaptations they use to cope with the stresses of winter.  Visiting animals may include porcupine, Great Horned Owl, opossum, skunk, woodchuck, Eastern Screech Owl, turtles, or hawks.  This program presented at no cost to the community and open to all with generous support from the Friends of Jackson Public Library.

    • Join Tin Mountain naturalists as we explore the newly created trail system on the Lori Jean Kinsey Arboretum and adjacent private Bald Hill lands at Tin Mountain Conservation Center in Albany.  Moderate climbs, downhill descents, and sweeping switchbacks await us as we summit Bald Hill, explore hemlock stands, and enjoy unique views of surrounding peaks.  Participants will need to provide their own ski setup (classic-style/touring) and trails are rated intermediate.  Afterwards we will convene at a neighborhood brewpub for fun drinks and appetizers for those interested.

Winter is the perfect season to see evidence of our year-round residents and enjoy our winter landscape. If you need snowshoes we have them in all sizes!

Admin Building of Nativity Lutheran ChurchJackson Community Church will have a team of volunteers helping with this project: wear your paint clothes and help brighten up the kitchen and lounge areas in the first floor of the administrative building on the Nativity Lutheran Church, which will be home to the Way Station. Paint supplies will be provided; bring your energy and enthusiasm! Once open, this day resource center will meet basic needs for homeless teens, families and adults in the Mt Washington Valley: laundry, showers, internet access, post office box, social and emotional support, connection to nearby social services.

Over 60 years ago America was in the peak of the industrial revolution and the nation’s waterways were dying from dams, water diversions and pollution. Run Wild Run Free takes the viewer through the history and current state of the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act that sought to protect these waterways. Join Tin Mountain Conservation Center, the Jackson Conservation Commission, and former Director of Research for the AMC, Dr. Kenneth Kimball, for this celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act.   • INTRODUCTORY YOGA with Anjali Rose

    Men and women invited to join instructor Anjali Rose for a gentle, introductory yoga class. Wear stretchy fitness clothing, bring a matt and a cushion/blanket if you have them. $60 for 6 weeks; payable at beginning of six-week session.  Scholarships available. This 6-week session will run through April 19.

    Gather with members and friends of a few of the valley’s faith communities for soup supper. Menu this week: Italian Wedding soup, salad, bread.
    5:30/6pm •  Meet at church for evening XC ski. Optimal starting point to be determined. Donations will be collected for Jackson Ski Touring Foundation. Bring your own head lamps, ski equipment, layers, and be prepared for outdoor conditions. Ski at your own risk. Bring friends! Open to everyone. All ages welcome. Note: We will continue this practice thru Mar 22, and will end the Lenten soup series with a Maundy Thursday meal on March 29.

    * Two TicketsMountain Top Music brings award-winning Barbershop Quartet to Jackson: This ensemble is comprised of Dan Costello, Ben Orenstein, Joey Constantine, and Seth Orenstein. They perform traditional barbershop harmony but sometimes mesh it with the likes of spiritual numbers, stage musical favorites, and Motown chart toppers. Seats are first-come, first serve.
