Lifelong birder Will Broussard will help us prepare for the upcoming warbler season with a review of the common and not-so-common warblers of the Mount Washington Valley. All aspects of identification will be examined including field marks, song, and habitat. You can put your refreshed (or newly acquired!) skills into practice with Tin Mountain’s weekly bird walks Thursday mornings leaving from the parking lot on Valley Cross Road in Jackson. All birding levels welcome for both programs.

Join birders of all levels on this weekly bird walk through the bog and view the rich diversity of bird life that makes it way north to rest or nest. Bring binoculars (or borrow ours), rubber boots, and a snack. Our final week will be via canoe! - VALLEY LITTER CLEAN UP DAY

Four years in the making, this one-hour documentary reveals how fire suppression and climate change have exposed our forests and wildland-urban landscapes to large, high intensity wildfires – and explores strategies to mitigate the impact of these fires. David Govatski, retired US Forest Service Fire Management Office, will lead a discussion following the film.

Volunteers of all ages welcome. Hosted by the River Church by McSherry’s in Center Conway, NH. Sponsored in part by local Rotary. Set up starts at 10am. The actual preparing of 10,000 or so meals starts around 11:45am. If 80 volunteers show up; we prepare 10,000 or so meals in less than two hours. If 40 – 50 volunteers show up; it may take us the full 2 hours to complete the project. Once the two hours to prepare the 10,000 or so meal are finished, we then help clean up. - Community Event: Mountain Top Music School’s 24 HOURS OF MUSIC!

Community Event: THE IMPOSSIBLE CLIMB with Mark Synnott
7pm • Whitney Community Center
Presentation starts at 7:30pm. In The Impossible Climb, Jackson’s own Mark Synnott uses his own career as a professional climber, its intersection with that of Alex Honnold and the lead-up to Honnold’s historic ascent, to paint a insider portrait of the elite climbing community, exploring what motivates them, the paradoxical drive to keep the sport pure and at the same time to fund climbs, and the role that awareness of mortality plays in the endeavour. We watch through Mark’s eyes as Alex plots, trains and attempts his heart-stopping free-solo ascent. This is the story which was also chronicled as a documentary in Free Solo. Books will be available for purchase and signing by the author.

Strap on your skis and join the TMCC naturalist staff on the beautiful spruce-lined winter trails of the Kanc. A series of short loops along the edge of Hedgehog Mountain lead skiers over the ungroomed trails of the WMNF. While the terrain is beginner friendly there will be moderate climbs and downhill runs along the way. - Community Event: MOON, PLANETS & ZODIAC: Your Nightly Guide to Our Journey through Space

Led by Tin Mountain Conservation Center staff. Understanding and observing the nightly phases of the moon and its relative position within the zodiac is a key to understanding, enjoying, and contemplating our night skies. What is the real world significance of the zodiac beyond just a tool of astrology? How does it help us understand our movement through space? What causes the phases of the moon? This program for all ages will answer some of these basic questions to help enhance your nightly sky gazing. If the skies are clear, the program will include time outside for identifying constellations of the zodiac and using a telescope.
