- Community Event: NATURALIST LED HIKES in JACKSON
10am • Tin Mountain Site, Jackson, NH- Join Tin Mountain Conservation Center for weekly hikes at the Jackson Field Station property. Highlights include the summit of Tin Mountain, a tin mine on the property, and historic homestead, and a mountain pond. Tin Mountain’s naturalist will explain the historic use of the property, help identify plant species, and point out animal signs. These hikes are a great way to explore the lesser trod trails of the White Mountains and avoid the crowds. Participants of all ages welcome.

- Join Tin Mountain research manager Katy Lewis for a discussion of common migrating hawks of the northeast. The program will cover basic identification marks, flight, behavior, and sightings of hawks. An optional hawk watch on 9/24 allows participants to put these new ID skill into practice.

- The Beyond the Valley Adventure Fest kicks off on Friday, September 16, at Ledge Brewing Co., where ticket holders will enjoy stories, slides and adventures from: local climber, skier and guide Josh Laskin who will share his backcountry snowboarding adventures in Kyrgyzstan. Jordan Cargill of Mountain Shadow Adventures follows in the footsteps of Brad Washburn as he explores and climbs in Denali National Park and Sarah Garlick, author, climber, and film director who artfully combines climbing with geology and exploration. Mark will discuss some of the process that goes into writing about his adventures, answer questions, and share some of his favorite excerpts. This program is free and open to the public.

This is an outdoor dinner concert. Should Inclement weather occur, the event will be moved inside the Tavern. - Along with a new stellar 6 piece ensemble, the Shadow Riders perform hits like “Can’t You See” and “Heard it in a Love Song.” The Shadow Riders is a name Toy Caldwell used for his backing group for a time and the title of one of his songs.
