October 22: Patience for the Harvest

  • Scripture: Galatians 6:9“Let us not grow weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”
  • Reflection: Trust that your efforts every day, and especially during transition, will come to fruition. As we have discussed before, we may have an objective in mind, and a long-term plan, yet life also tosses us complications and detours. We may continue to strive toward future goals, yet we are invited to dwell in the simple, daily experiences of life. Right now. To slow down, pause, and be patient. Pay attention to what is already within reach, and realize that in so many ways, what we have now and who we are in this moment is enough. Such appreciation for ourselves and our current circumstances comes from compassion and patience.
We can also enjoy anticipation for outcomes yet to arrive. For destinations ahead. For plans that are still unfolding.
  • Spiritual Practice: What are you awaiting right now? Take a moment to give thanks for something about the experience of ‘in between’.
