Day 18 — God of Abundance
- Scripture: Joel 2:26: You shall eat in plenty and be satisfied, and praise the name of the Lord your God…
- Reflection: Scarcity is a perception — a false one — created by empires and societies that amass resources inequitably. Abundance is God’s truth. Sufficient capacity to feed and shelter all people is the world’s reality, if resources and relationships are managed and stewarded responsibly.
Our gratitude this month resists fear-based storing, stashing, and hoarding of essentials. When the basics — and the extras — are shared, we discover there’s enough for all. Our gratitude also allows us to appreciate indulgences and luxuries, and discern between what we need and what we want.
The earth can sustain us, if we pay attention. And if we adopt conscientious practices and policies. - Practice: Share food with someone—cook for a friend, support a food pantry, treat someone to coffee.
