Day 15 — Gratitude in Grief
- Scripture: Psalm 34:18 — The Lord is near to the brokenhearted, and saves the crushed in spirit.
- Reflection: Gratitude is not pretending everything is okay. Often it isn’t. Gratitude doesn’t deny reality, including hardship and loss.
The practice of giving thanks involves noticing goodness, even in the midst of sorrow. To name a small gladness — a brief moment of brightness, someone’s kindness, or basic needs that have been met — even during a time of grief, helps healing. It creates perspective and awareness. To acknowledge something positive does not erase pain, yet it honors love. - Practice: Light a candle for someone or something you’ve lost. Name one thing you’re grateful for in what remains.
