    • May is a fun time to explore the woods and witness, firsthand, the miraculous daily changes. See ephemeral blooms, year-round and  seasonal birds nesting, renewed activity in Chase Pond and all types insects and amphibians – these harbingers of spring are always a welcome sight.
    • Join Outreach Coordinator, Heather McKendry, for a slow-paced walk that explores the Tin Mountain Conservation trails in Albany, NH. Outdoor highlights include an 1800’s quarry, beaver pond and diverse forests, while inside the Nature Learning Center you will find animal mounts and a gem & mineral collection.
    • Non-member tour:  $15/pp or $25/household. Members are FREE, so consider becoming a member!

    • The Book Sale takes place at the Whitney Community Center, 16 Black Mtn Rd, adjacent to the Jackson Grammar School.  Find lots of gently used books in a variety of genres at great prices.  There are also dvds, puzzles, and games for sale.

    8am – Afternoon • Playing fields by fire pond and riverbank

    • The day’s events start at 8 AM and the first Duck Race goes off at 1:45 PM.

    • Watch the “ever-growing” parade starting from the Covered Bridge at 1:30 PM. Have your picture taken with “Wildquack” the Jackson Area Chamber of Commerce Duck, visit local businesses and really enjoy this “ole” fashioned “Day in the Park”.
    • Continuing with tradition – admission to the event remains FREE!

MON, May 27 – MEMORIAL DAY HOLIDAY

  • Community Event: MEMORIAL DAY PARADE
    9am • – Parade in Jackson starts at J-Town Deli for JGS Band and spectators.
  • Community Event: JACKSON, INTERVALE, GLEN, BARTLETT: OBSERVANCES with American Legion Post 95 of North Conway and the Bartlett Francis P. Murphy VFW Post 5386
    • 9am: Jackson Cemetery rifle ceremony
    • followed by visits to the cemeteries in
    • Approximately 10am at Intervale cemetery,
    • Approximately 10:30am at Glen cemetery
    • Ending 11:15 am in Bartlett with a lineup at Cabin Fever Restaurant  followed by a march to Fred Hodgkins Memorial Veterans Park for a brief ceremony
    • Noon: Lunch at the Francis P. Murphy VFW Post 5386 at noon.
  • Community Event: MEMORIAL DAY CEREMONIES in CONWAY
    with Ralph W. Shirley, American Legion Post 46

    • 11:30 am: Conway Village Cemetery.
    • 12:30pm: TMemorial on Pepsy Corner (the park near Burger King) for a brief ceremony
    • 1pm: Veterans Memorial at Kennett Middle School for a brief ceremony
    • 1:30pm: St. Margaret’s Anglican Church of Scotland in Conway for a ceremony
    • 2pm: Finishing at Post 46 on Tasker Hill Road, Conway Village for a final ceremony and light refreshments.
  • Community Event: MEMORIAL DAY in NORTH CONWAY: American Legion Post 95 of North Conway
    • S1:30pm: Services near the top of the North Conway Cemetery
    • They will offer prayers and comments, ending with a rifle volley salute by the Post 95 Color Guard and a rendition of taps by Stacy Sand. Presiding over the ceremonies will be Post 95 Commander/Army-Marine Corps veteran Haskell, joined by Navy veteran/Post 95 past commander and now first vice commander John Pandora and Maj. John Edgerton (USAF-Ret.), Post 95’s second vice commander; and judge advocate Donald Ekberg and adjutant/finance officer Steve Robinson.
