- Scripture: Genesis 2:15 – “The LORD God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it.”
- Reflection: We consider ourselves to be responsible for creation. God’s command to tend the garden reflects our role as stewards of the environment. We are called not only to enjoy nature but to protect and nurture it. In fact, some scientists suggest naming this age after homo sapiens, since our activities have so dramatically affected the climate and the world, impacting whole species and even the earth’s temperatures and then its weather and landscapes and ecosystems.
- Spiritual Practice Prompt: Commit to a small act of environmental stewardship this week, such as picking up litter in your community, recycling, reducing power and gas usage, using renewable options such as your own water bottle or portable straw instead of single-use plastics, or planting something like a flower or tree.
