March 28 Lenten Daily Devotional

LIVING, LEARNING & LOVING during LENT

Lenten devotionals for March and April. We will focus on a different concept each day of the week: Sundays: Resting/Taking Sabbath Mondays: Fasting Tuesdays: Giving Wednesdays: Serving Thursdays: Praying Fridays: Studying/Learning Saturdays: Celebrating/Playing.

March 28 (Friday – Studying/Learning)

  • Scripture: John 8:32 — And you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.
  • Reflection: Learning and deepening knowledge about our own faith, alongside cultivating curiosity about other belief systems, broadens our perception of the world. It helps us become more rooted in our our spiritual tradition, while also growing in respect, compassion, and empathy for other beliefs, perspectives, and experiences. Engaging deeply with Scripture invites liberation and understanding into our lives.
  • Spiritual Practice Prompt: Choose a topic or question about which you are thinking. What does the Bible say about it? Use tools such as Biblegateway to search topics/words/phrases within the Bible. What does our faith tradition, as illuminated by Biblical passages and expanded through commentaries by preachers or theologians, tell us about the topic about which you are interested?  What surprises or concerns you? What reassures you or prompts you to explore further? What do other wisdom texts or faith traditions say about the same subject?

Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world. – Nelson Mandela
