LIVING, LEARNING & LOVING during LENT
Lenten devotionals for March and April. We will focus on a different concept each day of the week: Sundays: Resting/Taking Sabbath Mondays: Fasting Tuesdays: Giving Wednesdays: Serving Thursdays: Praying Fridays: Studying/Learning Saturdays: Celebrating/Playing.
March 26 (Wednesday – Serving)
- Scripture: Romans 12:11 — Do not lag in zeal, be ardent in spirit, serve the Lord.
- Reflection: When you volunteer or give your time and energy, do so with mindfulness. Come to such moments of volunteering, of serving others, of sharing yourself with others, via a sense of purpose and commitment. Do so with passion and fullness of heart.
If the form of service or volunteering you are engaged in becomes a burden, prompts reluctance or dread or resentment, choose another way to serve others or to volunteer. Serving is a way of giving, and while it may require a donation or sacrifice of time, energy, and effort, it should also be sustainable.
Take inventory of the ways you serve others. How do you volunteer? Are you able to create enough balance in your life to donate your time, talents, and resources to causes that you care about? Should you consider volunteering more or less to manage a healthy life balance? - Spiritual Practice Prompt: Make time in your life to donate your energy to a one-time project or program.
