LIVING, LEARNING & LOVING during LENT
Lenten devotionals for March and April. We will focus on a different concept each day of the week: Sundays: Resting/Taking Sabbath Mondays: Fasting Tuesdays: Giving Wednesdays: Serving Thursdays: Praying Fridays: Studying/Learning Saturdays: Celebrating/Playing.
March 21 (Friday – Studying/Learning)
- Scripture: 2 Timothy 3:16-17 — All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
- Reflection: Almost every aspect of human life is reflected within the stories, songs, and teachings of the Bible. This is true of other texts from other faith traditions, too. In our monotheistic Judeo-Christian context, people encountered God within their own experiences, and wrote down what happened, how God revealed Godself, how God responded to and made Godself present to earth’s people, and imparted hope and expectations for how humans might live together and on this earth. Our Biblical texts, like the wisdom writings of other faith traditions, embody deep truth and wisdom in their core. You can find your questions and situations echoed in their words and dilemmas, and learn from them. Deep engagement with the Word enriches our faith and our human experience, as well as our awareness of and connection to the Divine.
- Spiritual Practice Prompt: Choose this passage from Timothy, or a favorite selection from one of the books of the Bible that speaks to you, and choose a sentence. Let it work on you, and frame your day, and how you go through the day.
