Cultivate joy each day this week.
December 19: A Joyful Heart
- Scripture: Proverbs 17:22 — A cheerful heart is a good medicine, but a downcast spirit dries up the bones.
- Meditation: Joy has the power to heal and uplift.
- Spiritual Practice: Today, give yourself permission to access those simple contemplative or active pastimes that help you tap into joy: spend time doing something that makes you truly happy—reading a good book, dancing, playing music, knitting or another creative activity, or simply enjoying nature. Or spend time not doing anything at all, and al;low yourself to sink into stillness and respite.

More joy means lower levels of inflammation in your body, better health, and greater happiness. You’re no longer a prisoner of your emotions and can consciously choose where you want to use your energy and how.
Activating joy helps you reconnect with an authentic, wise part inside of you that knows how to love. It means finally feeling like yourself and safe inside your skin—no matter what traumas you have endured throughout your life. — Irina Bengtson
