Cultivate joy each day this week.
December 18: Joy in Service
- Scripture: Galatians 5:13 — For you were called to freedom, brothers and sisters, only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for self-indulgence,[a] but through love become enslaved to one another.
- Meditation: Joy often arises in the act of serving others with love.
- Spiritual Practice: Seek out an opportunity to serve in your community, whether through donations or hands-on help. Perhaps its an opportunity-based, one-time instance when you get the chance, and perhaps it’s a regularly scheduled part of the your life. How can you build service to others into your routines?

As our dialogue progressed, we converged on eight pillars of joy. Four were qualities of the mind: perspective, humility, humor, and acceptance. Four were qualities of the heart: forgiveness, gratitude, compassion, and generosity. — Douglas Carlton Abrams, The Book of Joy
