GROWING in FAITH
Daily Devotional
Daily Devotional
Cultivate steps for spiritual growth each day this week.
January 23: Root Yourself in Growth
- Scripture: Colossians 2:6-7 — … continue to walk in [Christ], rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.
- Reflection: Our journey in faith requires us to nurture forms of resilience. Having friends or companions with whom to share our spiritual selves, to explore our questions and hopes, to address our stumbling blocks and aspirations, to set goals and implement practices, is supportive to our growth.
- Spiritual Discipline: Choose a spiritual mentor or friend with whom to share your faith journey and seek encouragement together. Alternately, ask someone to be your prayer partner.

I think Jesus was a huge spiritual disruptor. I mean, you know, of course, he’s been sort of domesticated for institutional reasons. But he touched the impure and he healed the sick and he touched lepers and he ate with all the wrong people and he hung out with sex workers and he pissed-off the religious authorities. I mean, he’s my dude, you know? — Nadia Bolz-Weber
