Day 14 — Joy Comes in the Morning
  • Scripture: Psalm 30:5 “Tears may linger for the night, but joy comes with dawn.”
  • Reflection: In the longest nights and shortest days of the season, darkness seems especially powerful. Yet solstice is coming, and the rhythms of the world will chance.
Out of lament, loss, and difficulties,  joy may arise. It cannot be choked off or eliminated by the anxious, watchful hours of the night. We know change is coming, that light will triumph again. Often joy can be cultivated even in the most challenging iof circumstances. Joy, after all, grows as an inner spiritual gift that we nurture through spiritual practices and by connection to Holy Love. Thus joy leads to resilience.
  • Practice: Recall a time joy found you after sorrow. Let it remind you joy will rise again.
  • Song: “Here Comes the Sun” by The Beatles: https://youtu.be/KQetemT1sWc?si=9vwLKyecR6X_k9vg
  • “Joy is an act of resistance.” — Toi Derricotte
