LIVING, LEARNING & LOVING during LENT
Lenten devotionals for March and April. We will focus on a different concept each day of the week: Sundays: Resting/Taking Sabbath Mondays: Fasting Tuesdays: Giving Wednesdays: Serving Thursdays: Praying Fridays: Studying/Learning Saturdays: Celebrating/Playing.
April 2 (Wednesday – Serving)
- Scripture: 1 John 3:18 – Little children, let us love, not in word or speech, but in truth and action.
- Reflection: Echoing yesterday’s reflection, we reinforce the idea that giving time and presence is another way of showing love (and faith) in action.
How might we act — with our time and energy — to help people connect? Could we become a bridge of communication? Making calls? Visiting people? Delivering care packages? Sending notes or messages? Offering rides? Creating content for social media or other digital communication, to share significant messages and ideas? Recording events or experiences with videos or photos? Recording experiences and sharing them?
We always recommend balance in the way one offer’s personal energy and time. We also recognize our individual ability to help others connect in human ways. Social and relational connection is one of the greatest gifts we may share with others. - Spiritual Practice Prompt: Make at least one connection this week, so that you help break someone’s isolation and help them know that they are part of the community.

We must each lead a way of life with self-awareness and compassion, to do as much as we can. Then, whatever happens, we will have no regrets. — The Dalai Lama
