Sept 29 Daily Devotional

Monday: Giving & Serving Others

September 29

  • Scripture: Matthew 25:40 — “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’”
  • Reflection: Serving others is an act of love that mirrors Christ’s compassion. Small acts of kindness ripple outward and reflect God’s heart for justice and mercy.
The scripture also reminds us that we are connected to each other. We belong to each other. We are each others’ brothers and sisters, and so how we perceive each other and treat each other matters. Even strangers are kindred to us. After all, all humans are children of God.
Indeed, the simplest act of appreciation or care for another can help someone else feel seen. Can change their day.
And when you reach out to that person, you are touching Godself, too. At the same time, love is touching you and transforming you.
  • Spiritual Practice: Identify a small way to support someone this week. We know that the benefit works both ways, and that we are fulfilled and uplifted by such connections. What did you receive from giving of yourself in this way?

Song:

No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted. — Aesop
