  • Community Event: NATURALIST LED HIKE in Jackson
    10am-Noon • Tin Mountain Center, Jackson

    • oin Tin Mountain Conservation Center for an exploration at the Jackson Field Station property. Highlights include the summit of Tin Mountain, a tin mine on the property, and historic homestead, and a mountain pond. Tin Mountain’s naturalist will explain the historic use of the property, help identify plant species, and point out animal signs. These hikes are a great way to explore the lesser trod trails of the White Mountains and avoid the crowds. Participants of all ages welcome.

    • Renown Storytellers:
      • Bill Harley: Delights audiences as a two-time Grammy winner storyteller and musician
      • Charlotte Blake Alston: Illuminates African and African American traditions through precise, rooted folktales
      • Simon Brooks: Breathes new life into Celtic tales and European fairy tales
      • Motoko: Weaves traditional Japanese myths and contemporary themes
    •  Sign Up for Friday and Saturday Evening StoryFest Shows: FREE. There will be a Donation Jar at the door. Sign up is not required, but it helps us better plan.

  • Community Event: HAWK WATCH – Sabattus Mountain 
    10am-1pm • Sabattus Mountain Road, Lovell, ME

    • Join us in search of hawks during their fall migration. Enjoy a great hike while we look for hawks, other birds, and signs of fall. Moderate hike of .7miles to the summit.
    • Bring binoculars or borrow ours.
    • We will be meeting at the trailhead for Sabattus Mountain in Lovell at 10am or at the Maine Visitor Center in Fryeburg at 9:30am to caravan.

    • Explore Tin Mountain’s beautiful and unique Albany property with Outreach Coordinator, Heather McKendry. As we enjoy the last official week of summer, our trails are sure to show signs of the approaching autumn.
    • The walk is approximately 2 miles and includes uneven terrain; please plan accordingly, dress for the weather and meet on the Nature Learning Center porch.
    • $15 per person/$25 per household and $5 for TMCC members
