- Scripture: 3 John 1:4 – “I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth.”
- Reflection: Living with integrity and authenticity, as earlier devotionals have stated, contributes to enjoyment of our human experience. We become vulnerable, accept imperfection, and embrace honesty. We examine our ethics and make choices that align with our values, morals, and principles.
What is a core value that motivates you? How do you live it out? What does it look like in your life? Who has been a guide in your life, helping you learn and implement the things the foundation for your beliefs, choices, and actions? Who in your life needs similar guidance?
One academic institution defined each concept in the following ways (full article). Although the terms values, morals and ethics are often used interchangeably, society generally attaches a fine distinction among them:- Values — an individual’s accepted standards of right or wrong
- Morals — society’s standards of right and wrong, very similar to ethics
- Ethics — a structured system of principles that govern appropriate conduct for a group, including activities such as professional ethics, compassion, commitment, cooperation
- Spiritual Practice Prompt: Offer encouragement or support to someone who is walking a path of integrity and truth.
