TRUSTING GOD’s PLAN
Daily Devotional
Cultivate trust for God’s plans each day this week.

January 15: Acknowledge God’s Goodness

  • Scripture: Romans 8:28 — We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, who are called according to God’s purpose.
  • Reflection: Revisiting the idea that God’s plans do not promise the absence of challenges and suffering in life, when we focus on the understanding that God works for our good, this helps us view challenges through a lens of faith. We are asked to trust that God seeks to make a way for us, one that can offer balance and blessing, even if it’s not the specific situation or outcome we desired for ourselves.
Leaning into this belief in God’s desire for our wellbeing, we discover positive experiences and lessons, even in the midst of difficult times. We are empowered to reach for hope, and to act as God’s partners by making pragmatic, step-by-step plans to change circumstances. God’s presence is available to us in whatever resources and relationships may support us along the way.
  • Spiritual Discipline: Recall a past challenge that turned out for good. Journal how God’s hand was evident in it. Alternately, catch someone else doing ‘something good’ and thank them for it, or acknowledge it to them.

SONGS:

Do all the good you can,
By all the means you can,
In all the ways you can,
In all the places you can,
At all the times you can,
To all the people you can,
As long as ever you can.
— John Wesley

Human greatness does not lie in wealth or power, but in character and goodness. People are just people, and all people have faults and shortcomings, but all of us are born with a basic goodness. — Anne Frank
