The Benson family extends gratitude to friends and neighbors for their support throughout the vigil that preceded the death of Emily Benson’s father: Bradley Read Thayer. He died on Saturday, Feb 17 in Hanover, NH, surrounded by family and friends. He is survived by his family, which includes his daughter Emily and her husband Peter and their children PJ and Hannah. More information will be available at a later time, and memorial will probably be planned for the summer in the Whitefield, NH area.

REMEMBERING NANCY LOWE BORNHOFFT
Nancy Lowe Bornhofft, 97 of Jackson, New Hampshire and Gloucester, MA

At the request of her Nancy Bornhofft’s family,
we share with you her full obituary.

Two words that surface when people talk about Nancy Bornhofft are “gracious” and “indomitable.” She was born in 1921 in Belmont, Massachusetts and passed away in her Annisquam home on February 1, 2018 just days after celebrating her 97th birthday with her family. An educator and community leader, she lived fully and independently her entire life. Continue reading “Farewell to Bradley Read Thayer, Full Bio of Nancy Bornhofft”

Remembering Armand ‘Woody’ Wood

Remembering Armand ‘Woody’ Wood

The family of Armand ‘Woody’ Wood asks that we share this news: “Perhaps you can share with the congregation that Woody passed away on Monday, November 13. He has been having a hard time since mom died and his health has steadily declined.” The family anticipates organizing a memorial in the spring.

One member of the family shares that they are “so very sad for this loss, but … know Woody is now pain free and he and mom are together again.” She goes on to say, “Which lightens my heart.”

As recently as October, Woody was able to attend the Fryeburg Fair with other Mineral Springs residents, staff members, and volunteers. Meg Phillips and Rev Gail Doktor were with Woody and other Mineral Springs folks, and helped wheel him around in his chair for this outing. While there, he fulfilled a few of his remaining ‘bucket list’ items such as seeing an oxen-pull and munching some of his and Dot’s favorite fried fair food!

Woody was a familiar presence in Jackson for a long time, and a faithful member of the Jackson Community Church. We pause to remember his life and his contributions to this community.

The church office will share more details when they are available. As ever, we extend appreciation for the compassion of the staff at Mineral Springs, who were his constant caregivers.

Farewell to Dot Wood

Farewell to “Dot” Wood

The family of Dorothy “Dot” Wood has given permission to share the news that, at the age of 89, just shy of her 90th birthday, “Dot” died on Saturday, Sept 9. Her husband Armand “Fred” Wood continues to reside at Mineral Springs. Some family was present when she died.

“Dot” was a much-beloved member of this faith community. Though they couldn’t attend services, she and Armand remained connected to our church. Along with other residents of Mineral Springs, they were visited each week by people from our church (friends, deacons, and/or minister).

The family is making plans for a memorial service, and the church will share details about that event as they become available.

Please hold “Dot” Wood’s family — her husband, children and grandchildren — in the light. Also offer your prayers to her friends and to the Mineral Springs staff members who have provided compassionate care during her final years. She will be missed.
